Taking Action

April 1, 2008

Inspired by a post on another blog, I worked out a template for the Good4Girls project and sewed a few ‘dummy’ pads to see how it all worked. Why was I so shocked to find it easy and gratifying?

My goal is to sew 5 pads per month, plus a few inserts and maybe a carrying sack. I just need to figure out how the heck you purchase and attach snaps without patronizing our local Wal-Mart.

I’m so happy my post inspired someone! Heck, I’m just happy someone is reading my blog! 🙂
I bought my snaps at JoAnn fabrics when they had notions 50% off, but I’m going to see if I can find a bulk buying option. If I do, I’ll be sure to list it on my blog.
For now, I’ll continue to use Dritz snaps. They had several options: use with a snap press, use with an ez snap tool or use with a hammer. After looking at them all, I decided the snap press looked iffy (they could slip, like my grommet press does) and the ez snap tool looked like a waste. I figured I try a good old hammer first. It was unbelievably easy to do – 2 whacks with a hammer on each side and I was done.
    Good luck!
